This post is a copy paste of what I posted on my own support group site. I’m too tired to do another one.

I just got off the phone with Shahinian.
I am now about 12 days post op.

This last Tues a drip started at the base of the last staple.

I thought it was csf, wasnt sure. Called SBI, talked to Matt, said he would get back to me with a ossible prescription.
Waited.
Waited.

He called back, left a msg to see if still dripping, left a number to call.
I called direct to Shahinians right hand person (roxy) because they wanted to call meds in directly to my locl po-dunk town walgreens.
I call Walgreens today at 3-still no meds.

So I call the SBI on call service and pushed the number that corresponds with an “Emergency”.
A lady takes my name and number and number to the pharmacy.
I hang up.

Ring Ring

Shahinian on the phone.
asks if have temperture, how long dripping and how drips.
Tells me I am going to get a refill of the cipro and another med to attend to the drip.

He explained the tumor was so big that the space is still being filled and the wound needs to drain.
He then said He was going to call it in and call me back.

Hangs up.

I kinda chuckled knowing he was going to call walgreens and get the press 1 for spanish, and all the submenus needed to get into the right menu to do a presc order in.

10 mins later he calls on his cell telling me its done, and to call him back on Mon-tues and send high rez fotos of the wound.
He said that the staples shouldnt come out on Monday as previously planned.

I then mentioned I see my local ENT to get the staples out This coming Friday-he was stern and direct and said I am not do to anything till he sees the images and talks to me on Tues.

I was very impressed with him not forgetting about me and keeping me under watch from afar-especially taking the time to call me at 8pm on Sat NIGHT! Cool

Addendum 2 hrs later.

Just got back from Walgreens
Have refill of Cipro Antibiotic and

woke up @ 12. first full on night sleep. still in 45% king tut position.

did the whole kitchen of dishes. fueled mostly by anger.
sat down and almost passed out.
now going to visit greek friend kiki-a nazi occupation survivor and a grandmother to me.

just had first sneeze
had to stabilize myself with the couch. hit me while standing.

Lasted 1 hr in walmart ok.

am at MY home now.

dad helped me get a Christmas tree-a small one.

lower back is killing

So ya,
Those pretty horse statue carousels?
The pretty lights, fancy fixtures and woodworks,
Not only horse statues, but pretty sleds, red, blue, lights blinking, calling you to take a ride.

You pay the young gentleman a token and get on, choosing a sled instead of a cool looking black arabian horse because your too old and you know people will laugh. The corny carnival music starts, the young guy is churning some crank.

ah..you close your eyes and reflect.
popcorn, cotton candy and lollipops.

You open your eyes and the music is still going, ok, you think. “Ok, whens this end”, half your mind
is starting to think life responsibilities, work, groceries, The man keeps cranking the music.
“C’mon man, end it please,” as you stand up and support yourself with a pole on the edge of the metal circle of the carousel, ready to get off.

All of a sudden a metal screen encloses you and you see the gentleman turn into an evil fat kid who starts churning the music faster.

Then the sleds and horses disapear and are replaced with your bedroom bathroom, car, work, family. Everything in your life is a carousel.

Then you have to get used to the imbalance on it forever, then take away one hearing side.

Then try making some cofee *).

Thats my life for the next few months I guess Docs are saying.
I see my ENT next week to get staples out.

Brain needs to rewire to movements of the carousel.

tried to sleep at 12 lower back pain maybe around Lumbar 1-3,

could not.

went down stairs. my Leak catch (gauze) on neck full of blood. lethargic painful limp walking because my trunk is so sore from spondy and sciatica

I ended up crashing on the couch which serves as a hospital bed in a way since I cannot fall out of one side, I can put my head/back at the required 45degrees, and have my feet raised to the level of my head by putting pillows under my knees.

starting at 12, was able to get in at least 2 hr blocks of sleep.
got a bout 4 hrs of sleep in.

It was bliss.
Thats the most amount of sleep I have gotten in since the surgery.

Since my mind is busy compensating, it tottaly drains on your energy.

so once I get up around 9 maybe I have 100% tank full of gas, by 11, its already half empty.

i mention to family and friends i was in four low gear when i got out of hosp. only recently i think I have made it to first gear.

most of it is not physical but
sensory overload coming in one ear, and of course. balance.
I will try and take a trip out into the community today for a few hrs at IVARS then try and rent batmanbegins.

no call back from matt @ SBI re: meds for drip.
