Damn it was hot yesterday, Ran the loop, didn’t time it. I carried two bottles of water with me, 2 pieces of chicken, some almonds, and a saltone- a saturated with salt prune from a Mexican tienda. It was humid, and was about to rain. 15 minutes into the run I placed the saltone under my toungue. at 45 mins I pissed. @ about an hr I chewed 2.5 chicken pieces then some almonds. I thought it would energize me and give me a boost, but I think it might have slowed me down, or it was just the heat. My friends are telling me that the saltone was actually a Mexican monkey ball, all shriveled up and old.
It got really bad @80% of the run when I passed an apple produce center that had some ammonia gasing out the back door. “Hasta quema los pulmones”I screamed at the workers, they said, “Where” and I pointed to the building. they ran over and started to fan at their noses too. Finished saturated with sweat and fell asleep under a tree near a boatlaunch at Riverfront park.
My legs are sore.
I am trying to get comfortable with 10 so the 6 mile on the olympic triathlon chelanman is easier.
Also planning to ride my bike to Quincy tomorrow. First time I got a flat 10 minutes into the ride and had to hitchhike back to the car for not bringing a repair kit. 8(
Found this gal on the net. She even has her own site. Powerful. Why complain about life? I mean complaining is cool and everything, God knows I do it, there are alot of things to complain about in this world, and rightfully so, but one has to find balance or one will find themselves crooked. So if you complain alot, counterbalance that with the same amount of exercise. For some it may be a little, for others they may have to run a marathon every other day! *)
Ran my ass off after work today. Worked on staying hydrated too around the 10 mile loop.
I started slow yet felt invigorated by the coolness when the sun went down so shaved about 10 minutes off my time. Was totally floored by witnessing my first IronMan this last Sunday. I think I found the ultimate secret. The key to prolonged energy is to get liquids, salt and other electrolytes WHILE you run. Right before leaving work our secretary was eatng this Mexican dried salted prunes. They tasted absolutely horrible. Like a ball of salt. WE jokingly called them shriveled monkey balls. To tell you the truth, I felt total energy and was almost sprinting the last 4 miles. (wile guarding my back of course).
This is the most inspirational amateur documentary on this event. I saw it for the first time after getting out of surgery. Be sure to watch all the parts. I think the guy is from Wisconsin.
